Are you Unemployed or Laid off? Here is a new road for you.
Second Career is an Ontario government program that was created to help people who have:

• Laid off at any point after January 1, 2005
• Currently unemployed or working less than 20 hours a week.
• Taken an interim job to make ends meet after the initial layoff.


In addition, non – EI eligible laid – off clients are now also eligible for Second Career support to take training less than 6 months in length.

Funding up to $28,000 includes:

• Cost of Tuition
• Books
• Living Expenses
• Travel Transportation
• Disability supports……
Second Career Funded by government
Ontario Skills Development Program provides support to unemployed people who are or have recently been eligible for EI and need marketable skills in order to re-enter the labour market.

The program provides financial assistance to help people with some of the costs associated with acquiring the training, such as tuition and books.

Unemployed job seekers can apply:

• If they established a claim for EI benefits or their EI benefit period ended within the past 3 years.
• If they established a claim for EI maternity or parental benefits and were paid benefits within the
  past 5 years, and re entering the job market.
