College organizes free workshops on - “Researching Labor Market in Canada” and “Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals”

The students undertaking various diploma programs attended the free workshops organized  on Researching the Canadian Labor Markets and Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals respectively at Mississauga Campus. The workshop on Researching the Canadian Labor Market covered the aspects of the National Occupation Classification (NOC) and the major skill types, level required for each. The workshop highlighted the use NOC codes foe scavenger hunt.  Dawn Johnson the VPI representative mentioned that there is a greater need for the job seekers to understand the concept and perspective of NOC codes. She also talked of other research avenues, face-to-face meetings, ice breakers and interview styles.

The workshop on Setting S.M.A.R.T Goals highlighted the values of getting organized, and setting specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound goals to stay on track while choosing a career goal. Dawn who has been facilitating these workshops on behalf of VPI Inc. iterated the need to understand the goal and following the career path and job search in a planned manner and to follow job search goals diligently to be more effective and to increase the chances of being noticed for interviews.
