Progressive Learner Award for CIMT Graduates at the 16th Annual Convocation

16th Annual Convocation of Canadian Institute of Management & Technology was held at The Pearson Convention Centre on Friday, September 19, 2014.

The Convocation was graced by Ms Bonnie Crombie , Councilor, Ward 5, City of Mississauga as the Chief Guest and Mr. Maher Gahiliyani Associate Dean for the School of Education at the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Services, Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Garry Uppal, Senior Manager Royal Bank Canada, Dr Singh, who held a crucial role of Director Academics at CIMT were also present along with the other guests.

The Convocation opened with a warm welcome by Ms. Rashmi Gangwani, Manager-Marketing and International Services, CIMT College.

Mr. Kamaljit Bal, President, CIMT College congratulated all the graduates and their families and presented a brief Annual Report of the College. He assured the passing out students that CIMT College stands by them and they can count on the College for any assistance, advice or to further enhance their skills.

Ms. Crombie wished a very bright future and success for the students. She advised them to follow their passion, be true to themselves, take risks and accept challenges. She further emphasized on the need to continue learning and brushing up their skills.

Mr. Ghaliyani also emphasized on the importance of being a lifelong learner.  He quoted instances from his own life and suggested to the students to keep things in perspective, have long term plans in life and build and maintain relationships. He advised them to have peace at little successes, never regret, always experiment and spread positivity.

A total of 168 students graduated and received the diplomas in diverse filed ranging from diploma in Accounts Administration, Office Administration, Medical Office Administration, Personal support Workers, Early Childcare Assistant, Food Service worker, network Administration, Telecommunications Technology, and Post Graduate Diploma in Telecommunication.

Progressive Learner Award was presented to Sunita Mahajan and Gabriela Ciubotaru. 20 other students were awarded Merit Certificates. These being Srividhya Mutnuri, Melanie Buttigieg, Ravinder Malli, Debora Cordeiro Costa, Sanyogita Sharma, Kuljeet Kaur Ubhi, Min Chen, Kimberlee Anderson, Pauline Zavaglia, Jennifer Arteaga,  Kimberley Smith, Sukhwinder Kaur Grewal, Traceyanne Angelie Isaacs, Sonia Chawla, Kulwinder  Kaur Dhammu, Christine Oliver, Anglina Joseph Paul, Mala Wadhwa, James Allan Carve, Thayalini Kailayanathan.

The Instructors of various disciplines were recognized for their continuous efforts and contributions. Excellence Awards were presented to Mr. Vivian Haque, Ms. Avneet Dhawan. Ms. Ginni Wilson and Ms. Jasvinder Kalra. Appreciation Awards were presented to Ms. Kanwarbir Kaur, Ms. Sharon Deaves, Ms. Ina Mehta, Ms. Alka Bakshi, Ms. Anu Kalra, Mr. Vinod Singh, Mr. Deepinder Singh, Mr. Vincent Dabas and Ms. Monica Dabas.

Award of excellence – Staff, for 2014 was presented to Ms. Shruti Chadha for her excellence and professionalism while Maria Imran received a Distinguished Service Award, for 10 years of her invaluable contribution to CIMT College.

The Convocation concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Maria Imran – Manager Operations and Academics, CIMT College. CIMT College is proud to be able to impart occupation based training (vocational and Non-vocational) to thousand students during the year 2013-2014.
