cimt college convocation 2011 The recent Food Handler Certification training at CIMT College held on May23, 2012 saw participation from a number of people who were planning their careers in the field of food and health. More than 21 students participated in this one day training program held at CIMT College at its Malton-Mississauga Campus. The training was provided by Diana Therrien, Certified trainer from Canadian Food Safety Training Inc. in partnership with Toronto Board of Health and recognized by all the health units throughout Ontario.

The training provided an opportunity for food handlers to learn about food safety. They learnt about public health legislation, the role of the public health inspector, food borne illness, safe food handling methods and food premises sanitation. The information allows the food handler to successfully complete the examination to obtain a food handler certificate meeting the Ontario Ministry of Health's food handling training protocol and also the City of Toronto's requirement for mandatory certification of food handlers. More importantly, the information assists the food handler in storing, preparing, cooking and serving safe to eat food.

The training concluded with the awarding of certificates and badges to the successful candidates by Mr. Kamaljit Bal, President of Canadian Institute of Management and Technology. He lauded the efforts of the participants in taking a step forward in building their career with the right training.
