Phlebotomy is a medical discipline which involves drawing blood from patients for blood analysis by using various techniques. Phlebotomists help doctors and nurses in patient care. The Phlebotomy Workshop allows you to practice these skills in a hands-on component with an anatomical arm or on a fellow student. All workshops are taught by an RN, MD, or other healthcare professional
The Intramuscular Injections Workshop provides training in the knowledge, skills, and safety considerations for properly giving an Intramuscular (IM) Injection. This course may be beneficial for MOAs, PSWs, or Pre-med students or for anyone who wishes to learn for oneself or learn to assist a family member with insulin injections. During the hands-on practical session, students can use the actual supplies and equipment to perform an IM injection using a simulator or on a fellow student.
An Electrocardiography, or ECG, is used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats, as well as the size and position of the chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart, and the effects of drugs or devices used to regulate the heart, such as a pacemaker. The ECG Workshop teaches the technical components of ECG machine and the roles and responsibilities of the technician. Students learn to do ECGs using actual equipment during laboratory module.
