Phlebotomy Workshop

Phlebotomy is a technological medical discipline which involves drawing blood from patients for blood analysis by using various techniques. Phlebotomists help doctors and nurses in patient care. Phlebotomist will be in demand for as long as there is blood to donate, diseases to fight and patients to treat, and in-fact there is a growing need for phlebotomists in Canada. This hands on workshop refreshes the phlebotomy practices to be followed.

  • Medical Terminology for Phlebotomy
  • Patient interaction and related legal, ethical and safety issues
  • Patient identification and lab requisition form
  • Venipuncture equipment and Vacuumized blood collection system
  • Safety and Universal Precautions in handling the samples
  • Administrative Steps of Phlebotomy
  • Hands-on Practical training on blood and specimen collection
  • Preparing blood collection site and proper managing of the collected samples.

Once you've completed CIMT College's Phlebotomy Workshop, you can increase your employment opportunities or advance your career by becoming a Nationally Certified Phlebotomist through the Canadian Phlebotomy Technicians Group Inc.   Earn the professional title Certified Phlebotomy Technician, which is a CPT designation.

Steps:

1. Complete your CIMT College Phlebotomy Workshop with a passing grade

2. Pay your membership with Canadian Phlebotomy Technicians Group Inc.   $129 annual fee (CIMT College graduates receive a 15% discount!)

3. Write the CPT Exam.

  • One-time exam fee is $210 + tax (CIMT College graduates receive a 15% discount!)
  • 100 multiple choice questions plus a live practical exam
  • Candidates must receive a grade of 62% (sixty-two per cent) or higher in the theory component to successfully pass the exam, and 80% (eighty per cent) or higher in the practical component to successfully get certified as a Phlebotomy Technician.

Other Bonuses:

Graduates from the CIMT College Phlebotomy Workshop will receive an alumni discount of 15% on membership and exam fees.

Certified members have the option to be covered for Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).
